Marian Hulshof from The Netherlands was an artist-in-residence in 2015.
Wairarapa inspired her with its mature trees that were given time and space to develop their singularity. In New Zealand, she used the material that was available, a cotton sheet, her trousers, charcoal and watercolours. During her stay, she worked on a large painting / drawing in the stand-alone studio, going back to the basics, whereas she mostly works with multicolored fabrics in her Leeuwarden-studio.
In July-September 2016, she will exhibit her NZ-made and subsequent work at Natuurmuseum Fryslân in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. www.marianhulshof.nl
