Lydia Karpenko and Vlad Papish from Canada were artists-in-residence in 2013. Undertaking their project "Felt, Shelter and Modern Nomadic Experience", they created a nomadic tent structure with felted textiles constructed from New Zealand sheep wool. The aim of the project was to simultaneously create a livable structure and an artwork, introducing visual and tactile aesthetics to the culture of camping (a favourite Kiwi and Canadian past-time). Lydia and Vlad are pictured above with their prototype. Below, their 'yurt' takes its place at NZ Pacific Studio.
